The Alpha Youth Camp in Italy, which took place this August, was an inspiring week for Alpha Youth guests and leaders to experience fun, workshops, games, worship, prayer ministry, talks and street outreach. The idea began because of a desire to raise a new generation of leaders in the church, leaders who would share the Gospel with their friends and invite them to try Alpha.
The highlight of the camp was visiting the Vatican City, Rome, where everyone from the camp had the opportunity to hear from Pope Francis and shake hands with him. During his speech, Pope Francis prayed “may Jesus become your great Friend, your Companion along the way. May the living Jesus become your life! Every day and forever.” One camp guest said it was “such an extraordinary, spirit-led and moving experience for us all.”
Overall, the Alpha Youth Camp saw amazing partnerships develop, unity grew across Dioceses and between National Alpha Offices. Most importantly, we saw the transformation of many young lives and an increased enthusiasm and confidence to run Alpha within their local churches.
