Alpha Youth brings renewal to a Swiss church

Initially reluctant to run Alpha, a church in Lausanne, which had gone through many lows, decided to give the Alpha Youth Series (French) a go, to help build unity. The 30 young people who signed up enjoyed it so much that they invited friends, and attendance soon doubled to more than 60.

“Atheists and Muslims came along and some now even attend church and ask for prayer, though they’re not yet Christians,” shares the pastor. Alpha Youth, he says, has helped to connect different generations in his church, with elderly members cooking for the young attendees: “Both groups were so blessed – at one point they hugged each other.”

We’ve never experienced anything like this in 20 years at our church.

“There are three words that describe what Alpha has done: conversion, baptism in the Holy Spirit and making more disciples,” he comments.

“We’ve never experienced anything like this in 20 years at our church. We have witnessed a real renewal and young people are thirsty for more. We are simply in awe of what God is doing.”
